Trivia
While the LMG-E is based on the Ares Shrike, it is modeled and named after the Krytac Trident LMG Enhanced, an airsoft gun based on the same weapon. The same LMG model based on the Krytac Trident LMG Enhanced also appears in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands as the "MK249". As the Ares Shrike is a closed bolt AR-platform machine gun, it would technically have a +1 capacity during tactical reloads. However, for some reason during tactical reloads, the operator pulls the charging handle after loading a new belt. This voids the +1 capacity since the chambered round would be ejected, and thus the fixed 150 round ammunition capacity is still technically correct, although the ejected round is not visible. Whether or not this was intentional is unknown. Patch Changes

Today we will look at the various different categories of machine guns – what makes them, why they exist, and what their place in military history is. Specifically…
Automatic Rifle: Shoulder or hip fired, limited magazine capacity, minimal sustained fire capacity. Examples: M1918 BAR, Chauchat. LMG: Magazine fed, rifle caliber, bipod fired. Examples: Bren, Madsen, Lewis. HMG: Belt fed, usually water cooled, minimal portability, fired from tripod only. Examples: Maxim, Vickers, Hotchkiss 1914. Evolved into guns of caliber 12. 7mm – 20mm, like the M2 and DShK. MMG: Air cooled, tripod fired only, belt fed. Examples: Browning 1919A4, SG-43. GPMG: Bipod or tripod fired, belt fed, rifle caliber, quick-change barrel. Examples: MG42, PKM, M240. SAW/LSW: Intermediate caliber, magazine fed, bipod fired. Examples: L86A1, FN Minimi, RPK.
It can be synthesized by heating succinic anhydride with hydroxylamine or hydroxylamine hydrochloride. [1]
Activating reagent [ edit]
NHS is commonly found in organic chemistry or biochemistry where it is used as an activating reagent for carboxylic acids. [2] Activated acids (basically esters with a good leaving group) can react with amines to form amides for example, whereas a normal carboxylic acid would just form a salt with an amine. Use [ edit]
A common way to synthesize an NHS-activated acid is to mix NHS with the desired carboxylic acid and a small amount of an organic base in an anhydrous solvent. A coupling reagent such as dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) or ethyl(dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) is then added to form a highly reactive activated acid intermediate. NHS reacts to form a less labile activated acid. The group itself is usually written as SuO- or -OSu in chemical notation. Such an ester with an acid and NHS, sometimes called succinate ester, is stable enough to be purified and stored at low temperatures in the absence of water and, as such, is commercially available.
