Nevery the wizard senses this and takes him on as an apprentice. Adventure and excitement follow. Conn is the primary narrator, and his wonderful voice carries the book. He is street smart, but not a wise guy. He is made of true-blue hero stuff, being loyal, honest, conscientious, brave and shrewd. He is also subject to youthful error, exaggeration and false hope, so he presents a well-rounded, age appropriate protagonist. Nevery is a classic fair-but-firm, grumpy/softy master. Benet, Nevery's "muscle" is an effective soft-hearted tough guy. Rounding out the gang is Rowan, the ruling Duchess's daughter. She is smart, sassy, adventurous, and an excellent partner for Conn. She also provides a nice counterpoint to Conn, (in a Hermione Granger kind of way). This book is not frantic, and there are no monsters. It's about how Conn grows up to be a wizard, and how he and his companions use magic and their own pluck to solve problems and help their city. There is "political intrigue", but it is simple enough to not confuse the story, (i. e. some bad wizards, a criminal kingpin, some spies and sneaks - that kind of thing).

Hearing 100 times doesn't compare to seeing once. This is similar to the English expression "seeing is believing". ⑤
Nothing will become except the way it will become. Everything works out the way it works out. This reminds me of the expression "仕方ない", and is sort of like the English expression "whatever will be, will be" or "whatever happens, happens".
Dango instead of flowers; More than flowers, dango. This expression indicates going for practicality over aesthetics, to go for the dango (a sustenance), over flowers (beauty).
Don't forget the original spirit you had (when you began something). Everyone is always excited when they embark on something new, and sometimes that feeling may eventually fade. You should remind yourself of the high feelings you had when you began something, and never lose sight of them.
One stone, two birds. Just like the proverb in English but backwards, "two birds with one stone".

It's not real. It isn't "seen". You can put concepts into "visual space" by giving them anchors. The dots. Build complex shapes with the dots, make the dots small, make those coloring book outlines of things with the dots. Attach concepts to the dots to give visualizations meaning / "color" / "smell" / "flavor". Those are not things I can recall as sensory memory, only as conceptual memory. Visualizations have wallpaper of concepts. Imagine a wireframe structure covered in newspapers, each article being a concept about that item. That is the concept I use to describe DMPV. A bookshelf is the shape of a bookshelf with the concepts of "container", "books", "smell of books is pleasant", "wood", "strong", "precarious", "knocked over a lot in movies". Even the shape is conceptual until I commit to making the shape out of dots. This applies to all senses for me specifically. It isn't "I remember the horrible taste of that soup" for me it is "I remember the soup was not good". No sense. No taste.

Start your review of Halloween Poems
Bought this for the Stephen Gammell illustrations, which are fab. The book is a kid book so I shouldn't try to rate it, but the poems didn't do anything for Silverstein, for example, still does... I love Halloween. It's always been my favorite holiday. I'm not sure exactly why, but I suspect the main reason I love Halloween so much is because it's all about the macabre. And since darkness and the macabre have always fascinated me, to have a holiday centered around it is pure awesome. That, and the leftover candy. XD But anyway, one day, I stumbled across Stephen Gammell's art. When reading up on it, mostly the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books, I then came across this book, and all th.. The illustrations are wonderful. The poems were slightly disappointing. I love the illustrations of Stephen Gammel, who also illustrated the book series "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. " They have a very eerie feel about them.
